VANKYO C750 Review

Today we are taking a look at the VANKYO C750 Bluetooth Headphones, although we will be referring to the headset as the Vanyko C750.

What are they and who is the manufacturer

Vankyo is a Chinese manufacturer of a wide range of audio products. They have an office in the UK, which imports and distributes their products to the UK market.

The Vankyo C750s are active noise-cancelling headphones aimed at the home, business and travel market.

Build quality

The build quality is excellent; they are predominantly made of steel and are very solid. The earcups have a soft-touch black plastic finish. The headband adjustment mechanism has a similar finish and is very robust. The frame is made from steel and can be adjusted to fit any size head. The earcups can also be rotated to fit any head shape.

Noise Cancellation

The noise cancelling is terrific; it is adjustable from -15dB to -30dB using the controls on the right earcup. It is on a scale of 1-10 when it comes to noise cancelling. The noise cancelling is powered by a built-in lithium polymer battery which has a life of around 16 hours. When the battery runs out, the noise-cancelling will not work. However, the headphones will still function as normal headphones without noise cancellation. The battery is charged using the supplied USB cable and adapter. The same battery also powers the built-in microphone as the noise-cancelling function.

Design

The design has been well thought out; the earcups have a soft-touch black plastic finish with large foam covered earpads for extra comfort. The earcups also rotate 90 degrees to lie flat for transport in the very nice case included with these headphones. The headband adjustment mechanism has a similar finish and is very robust. The frame is made from steel and can be adjusted to fit any size head. The earcups can also be rotated to fit any head shape.

Comfort

The comfort level of these headphones is excellent; they feel light and airy and don’t make your ears, or head feel hot like some other over-ear headphones do during long listening periods. They are also very comfortable for wearing for long periods, even after long flights and commutes I did not find them fatiguing at all.

Features

These headphones come with everything you need to connect them to your phone or PC. They come with an auxiliary cable, USB charging cable and adapter and a carry case with pocket for all of these items and more. They come with a built-in microphone for calls and voice commands for your phone or PC, or they can just be used as normal headphones for listening to music without having to take your phone out of your pocket.

They also have touch controls on both earcups for play/pause/skip/volume etc., which are very intuitive to use. They also have an audio jack if you want to connect them directly into an amp or music playing device without Bluetooth or NFC connectivity etc.

The touch-sensitive controls work well but do not always respond straight away, so you do have to be careful when using them. Pressing too hard on them or move your hands out too quickly; it may take 2 or 3 presses before they respond correctly (I found this only happened from time to time though). There are also some light indicators towards the bottom of each earcup which display power level and battery level. These could be brighter as I found them quite challenging to see at times (but this is only really an issue if you are in a dark environment).

They come with a pleasant feeling carry case which has plenty of space inside it for all of the accessories that go with them, so you can keep everything together in one place (with room leftover) which is very convenient if you need to travel with them often.

Battery Life

The battery life is very good, I have been using them a lot over the past week, and the battery level indicator is still showing all four dots full. The website states that the battery life should be around 16 hours, and this seems to be accurate.

I was able to get a full working day out of these headphones without having to charge them at all, which was great. I used them for listening to my music library on my PC at work, watching videos on my phone on the commute to and from work and taking calls during the day. They also charged up very quickly when they did need charging with only a couple of hours charge time giving me two full days of use before they needed charging again.

How do they sound?

The sound quality is excellent, they have a very nice clear sound with plenty of bass for such small drivers (they are 40mm). The volume can be quite loud without sounding distorted even at high volumes (and I like it loud). Still, they do not have that tinny/metallic sound that some other headphones can occasionally have when listening to music or watching movies at high volumes.

Usability

They are easy to use, turn them on using the power button on the right earcup, make sure your Bluetooth is connected and then you can play your music or watch your movie etc. If you want to take a call then press the centre button and talk, the built-in microphone is very clear for both incoming and outgoing calls.

Do they have a microphone?

They do have a built-in microphone which works well for making calls. You do not need to speak too close to it or repeat yourself, unlike some other in-line microphones I have used in the past. The microphone also directs your voice towards your mouth, so you don’t sound muffled when using it (I wouldn’t say I like it when this happens with some other headphones).

What about wireless?

They are Bluetooth 4.0 headphones which use Bluetooth 4.1 EDR and aptX codecs for high quality wireless audio transmission. They will connect automatically to any device that is paired with them previously (such as your phone or PC). They will also remember up to 8 devices and connect each time automatically one of these devices comes within range of them (they will disconnect automatically from any device if an alternative device comes within range). I found these headphones connected well with my phone and PC without any issues whatsoever.

How good is the case?

The case is made from faux leather with a soft touch black plastic finish around the edges of it. It has plenty of space inside it for all of the accessories that come with them so that you can keep everything together in one place (with room leftover). This is very convenient if you need to travel with them often or keep them stored away safely when you are not using them.

The case comes with two pockets inside it which are large enough for storing a smartphone or MP3 player/tablet as well as an auxiliary cable, USB charging cable and adapter so you can charge your headphones up whilst on your travels if needed. The pockets can also be used for storing cash and cards in if required, there is also a strap inside the case which allows you to attach it to something like a suitcase handle if you need to carry it around like this instead of using its handles.

The case also comes with two large straps attached to it, which allow you to carry it by hand comfortably wherever you go (these straps are detachable if you don’t want/need them). There is also a detachable shoulder strap included which would allow you to carry it over your shoulder if needed. I did not find this strap very comfortable when wearing this way, so I would recommend leaving this strap attached inside the case when carrying this way instead if possible.

What’s in the box?

You will get:

  • ✓ A pair of Vankyo C750 Headphones
  • ✓ 1 x USB charging cable
  • ✓ 1 x USB adapter cable
  • ✓ 1 x Auxiliary cable
  • ✓ 1 x Carry Case
  • ✓ 1 x User manual
  • ✓ 2 x Stereo earbuds
  • ✓ 1 x User manual
  • ✓ 1 x Safety information leaflet

Are they compatible with games consoles?

They should be compatible with most consoles as they have an audio jack connection included so there should be no problem connecting them up directly into a console without Bluetooth.

It does state on their website that they are compatible with Android phones and Apple iPhones.

Should I buy them?

If you are looking for an affordable pair of noise-cancelling headphones that have a decent sound quality, then these headphones are a great option.
