Divoom Ditoo Review
The Divoom Ditoo is a Retro Pixel Art Bluetooth Speaker and is probably the cutest speaker you will ever see.
The animations that you see on the speaker are all created using coloured LED lights. The led lights are arranged in a 16×16 matrix, and an app controls the animations that you see on your phone. You can also control the LED animations using the buttons on the top of the speaker.
If you’re interested in cute speakers then you’re going to love this, let’s dig into our Divoom Ditoo Review!
Build quality
The first thing we want to talk about in our Divoom Ditoo Review is that you are going to notice how small it is. It is very light because it is made from mainly plastic but still feels quite robust. The plastic is slightly shiny, and it has rubber feet on the bottom to stop it moving around when it is playing music.
The buttons on top of the speaker are also made from plastic, but they feel a little cheap and not as well built as I would like them to be. They work great though, no problems there. The speaker itself is a little hollow and tinny sounding when you tap on it, but overall still sounds excellent for its size and price.
- ✓ Fit type: Portable
- ✓ Back: Open-back
- ✓ Connection: Bluetooth, 3.5mm jack
- ✓ Colors: Black
- ✓ Opinion: Excellent construction, good sound, the screen is a cool gimmick.
Design
Continuing with our Divoom Ditoo Review, the design of the speaker looks fantastic and is manufactured to a very high standard. The speaker has been designed to look like a large retro computer monitor, and it does do this very well.
The speaker is black and has a 16×16 pixel screen with blue LED lighting that gives off a soft glow that reflects off the black colour of the speaker.
The speaker itself is very big which makes it great for using as an alternative to a computer monitor, and this is made even better as when you turn it on it displays the time, date and even comes with a clock face that you can select from!
The screen has a resolution of 128×128 which is quite impressive considering its only a 16×16 screen, and it displays the time, date, battery life and even has an emulator that plays retro games!
Features
The features of the speaker are fantastic and make this speaker one of a kind! They do stand out from other speakers available at this price range.
There are three buttons located at the top of the speakers which allow you to control all sorts of things, including:
- ✓ Volume level
- ✓ Flashlight (useful if you’re in a dark room)
- ✓ Gameplay mode (allows you play different types of games)
- ✓ Clock face selection (allows you to choose from different clock faces)
- ✓ Play / Pause / Stop buttons
- ✓ A Micro USB port
On top of all this, there is an AUX-IN port located at the back of the speaker. Being capable of using Bluetooth as well as any wired device with an AUX cable means that these speakers pretty much allow you to listen to anything!
How do they sound?
The sound quality from these speakers is pretty good for their size but not great. They don’t get loud enough for parties. Still, They are perfect for listening to music quietly in your room or dormitory without disturbing anyone else around or even listening on your own if you want some peace and quiet!
You can use them to listen to music wirelessly from any device with Bluetooth or with an AUX cable meaning that they work with all devices so will fit in perfectly with most people’s lifestyles!
Do they have a microphone?
When we were writing up our thoughts for our Divoom Ditoo Review, we had to double-check if the Ditoo came with a microphone as we know that is important for many of our readers.
These speakers do not have a microphone built-in, making them not ideal for conference calls; however, if you need some extra volume, then these speakers will provide! Don’t expect to see these in your boardroom anytime soon!
What about wireless?
These speakers have Bluetooth built-in, which means they can wirelessly connect to any device with Bluetooth, which means that they can connect wirelessly to any device such as phones, tablets etc.
There is also an Aux-In port which allows wired devices such as phones without Bluetooth capability or non-wireless devices such as mp3 players etc.
Battery Life
Battery life was an essential consideration in our Divoom Ditoo Review. The battery life on these speakers is pretty good compared to other speakers available at this price range although some may say it’s not great depending on what type of lifestyle you live (I think it’s excellent!).
If we compare like-for-like, then I would say that their battery life is better than similarly priced Bluetooth Speakers available on the market today. However, again this will depend on how much use your speakers get throughout the day etc.
If we compare this product directly against other products within our range, then I would say that their battery life is slightly lower than competing products. The performance is still outstanding considering these are smaller, more compact devices than other products within our range.
What’s in the box?
When you buy this speaker you will receive: The Divoom Ditoo speaker An AUX cable A Micro USB charging cable A User Guide (Contains information on all the features of the speaker and how to use them)
Are they compatible with games consoles?
The speakers are not compatible with any game consoles; however, they do come with an emulator so you can play retro games on your speaker, which is very cool!
Should I buy them?
To conclude our Divoom Ditoo Review, if you’re looking for a great set of speakers at a great price, then I would highly recommend the Divoom Ditoo.
