The Mpow 059 Plus is the successor to the Mpow 059. It is renowned as a fantastic headset that rivals the significantly more expensive Bose QC 35 II for sound quality, noise cancellation and design. With over 100 positive reviews on Amazon, it’s clear that the Mpow 059 Plus is a favorite for many people. At under $100, this headset is fantastic value for money.
The Mpow 059 Plus is a pair of Bluetooth headphones with active noise cancellation (ANC) and memory foam ear pads. The headphones are wireless, and battery life is around 30 hours, depending on the volume level. The manufacturer is Mpow, a Chinese electronics company based in Shenzhen, China.
Build quality
The build quality is generally good. The earpads are adjustable in size for all head sizes, and the headband is also adjustable to fit most people without any discomfort. The buttons on the side use a tactile click when pressed and can be operated by feel in the dark if required.
There are magnets in the ear pads that hold them together when folded flat for storage or to reduce cable clutter when not in use. The ANC works very well, and there is no drop in sound quality when active.
The plastic used on the headband and ear cups is good, and there is no creaking or flexing in the plastic. The case is made from a similar plastic and has an elastic strap to hold it closed. The headphones are all black with blue accents.

Noise cancellation
The ANC is excellent and can be turned on or off with a switch on the left ear cup. When active, it does an outstanding job of cutting out background noise. The ANC works best when paired with quiet surroundings, as a noisy environment will leave the user wanting more from it. This is not uncommon for ANC technology, but the Mpow 059 Plus does a great job reducing background noise if there are not many ambient sounds.
Design
The Mpow 059 Plus design is very sleek with an attractive piano black finish that feels good to the touch. The headband is thin but still provides adequate support for long listening sessions without discomfort. The ear cups are large enough to fit around most ears without being uncomfortable, and the memory foam earpads provide ample cushioning without being too tight or too loose.
The Mpow 059 Plus comes with an adjustable headband and interchangeable ear pads to ensure a secure fit for most people. The headphones fold inwards for storage in their carrying case and have magnets in the ear cups to hold them together when folded flat. They are stylish, lightweight and offer excellent value for money.
Bluetooth 5 also offers better signal strength and less interference from other wireless devices such as Wifi routers, Bluetooth speakers, etc., making it ideal for high-end headphones such as these.
Another advantage of Bluetooth 5 over Bluetooth 4.1 is that it allows up to two connected devices simultaneously so that you can switch between them by pressing the button on the left ear cup (or by using your phone).
The buttons on either side of the right ear cup can be used to play/pause music or answer/hang-up phone calls just by holding down one of them. The buttons can also be used to skip forward or backwards through your music by holding down a button and then tapping another one. This can be useful if you listen to music on your phone and want to skip a song without having to take it out of your pocket.
The power button is on the right ear cup, and a voice prompt will let you know when the headphones are powered on or off (or charging). The microphone is hidden in the right ear cup and can be used for making calls or for recording podcasts.
The Mpow 059 Plus comes with an aux cable and charging cable (micro USB) that connects to the port on the left ear cup. The port is covered by a rubber flap that also acts as a dust cover to protect the charging port from dust when not in use. It is very well sealed, but I still keep my headphones in their case when not in use so that they are not exposed to dust.
Comfort
The Mpow 059 Plus is very comfortable to wear, and I have no issues wearing them for hours at a time, depending on my mood. They are relatively light at around 5 ounces (150 grams), making them easy to wear over long periods. The ear cups are large enough to fit around most ears without any discomfort, and the memory foam earpads provide ample cushioning without being too tight or too loose.

How do they sound?
The sound quality is good, and the Mpow 059 Plus is an excellent choice for anyone who wants a pair of Bluetooth headphones with ANC that are stylish, feature-rich and will last all day on a single charge. The sound quality is very good for Bluetooth headphones and offers an expansive soundstage (what is soundstage) with good separation and depth.
The bass is deep but not overpowering, and the treble is clear without being harsh or sibilant. They are easy to drive and don’t require a lot of power to get loud enough to enjoy music. These are not the best audiophile headphones, but they perform well in their price category.
How do they compare to the Bose QC 35 II?
