Can you find decent noise-canceling headphones that don’t cost an arm and a leg?

I’ve gone the extra mile to search for a nice set of noise-canceling headphones that are below the $100 mark. The audacity!

Surprisingly, I’ve found a great deal. Cowin E7 Pro checks all items on my checklist and more. More importantly, it won’t break your bank!

Cowin E7 Pro is an upgraded version of its successful predecessor Cowin E7, with better sound quality and an improved build. I thought I’d share the Cowin E7 Pro review with you, so you don’t go searching the market and end up buying some cheap plastic.

Here are my two cents.

Cowin E7 Pro – General Features

Without further ado, let’s dive into the details of the Cowin E7 Pro.

Design

Cowin E7 Pro has a distinct style that will surely grab attention but won’t necessarily be everyone’s cup of tea.

They’re a bit on the bulky side with noticeable glossy circular earcups. You might love the shiny appearance, but you probably won’t like that it’s prone to fingerprints and smudges. For those who love simplicity, the older E7 looks more elegant. Yet, E7 Pro is lighter in weight. That’s a point.

Cowin E7 pro comes with soft, cozy ear cushions that enhance the comfort of its 90-degrees swiveling earcups. The manufacturers advise you to take the headphones off every 2 to 3 hours to relax your ears. While this is better for your health , it doesn’t give a good indication of these headphone’s comfort level and thermal effect, but in our experience, they were quite comfy.

Another factor that contributes to your comfort is the headband, which, in this case, has limited extendability. Thus, it won’t accommodate all head sizes. We’ll have to take a point from them here.

The set is available in a spectrum of colors; black, blue, green, red, pink, purple, and white.

Sound

Audio quality can make or break your headphones. Luckily, Cowin E7 Pro’s sound is the former.

These headphones produce clear sound with crisp percussions and deep bass. Indeed, this is a product for bass lovers ; it features strong, punchy bass that comes clear at the lows and mids. When it comes to highs, it’s somehow controversial, as they don’t sound as rich at high frequencies. We think the highs can use some improvement.

Cowin E7 Pro boasts of its Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) feature with a noise reduction depth of 30 dB, which is remarkable at such a price range.

Note that with noise cancellation on, the audio will be affected, especially the bass. Moreover, a few reviewers reported that they encountered sound interruptions when they turned their heads quickly with the noise cancellation on. Such a sly detail, but it might be bothersome to some.

Functionality

Cowin E7 Pro is a wireless set of headphones. You can connect it to your device through Bluetooth. You’re promised a stable, secure connection thanks to Bluetooth 4.0. However, there are Bluetooth 4.1 and 4.2 now, so it’s not the most up to date option.

There are buttons to control everything. An on/off button, volume up/down, ANC switch, and Bluetooth enabling. You can also skip tracks and switch between music and phonecall modes through buttons. However, the buttons are somehow cramped on the right earcup, which makes their placement a bit annoying.

Cowin E7 Pro features a built-in microphone, so you can take calls with your headphones on. The mic’s quality isn’t on par with the other components. It’s not that different from the old E7, which already needed a mic improvement.

Regarding the battery, E7 Pro encompasses a built-in 800mAh battery that offers you 30-hours of playtime when fully charged. The downside is that it takes 4-5 hours to fully charge, which is kind of long.

What’s in the Box?

You’ll receive a large package to accommodate the bulky headphones, alongside the following:

  • USB cable
  • AUX cable
  • Carrying case (hard shell)
  • User guide

What Makes Cowin E7 Pro Special?

With everything on the table, let’s see why we recommend you go for the Cowin E7 Pro in this price category.

Decent ANC

Cowin E7 Pro features a noise cancellation technology that suppresses the sounds of the external environment. Whether you’re working in a busy office or roaming through the city’s heavy traffic, these headphones will do you good blocking noise.

Primarily, the noise cancellation feature is designed for flying, to quell sounds when on an airplane. On that level, Cowin E7 Pro’s performance is solid.

Now, let’s get something straight. We’re talking about a humble price range for ANC headphones here. Don’t expect it to be on par with high-end models, Bose’s noise cancellation performance, for example.

Good Value to Price

This set strikes a balance between quality and price, it sounds too good for a set of headphones below $100. You’ll probably get your money’s worth, plus some features.

Revisiting Cowin E7, we noticed how E7 Pro is more advanced. It provides better sound, deeper bass, less white noise, and excellent noise cancellation.

Long Playtime

The 30-hour playtime on Bluetooth mode of the Cowin E7 Pro is impressive. Since it is made to be used on airplanes, the long playtime is a necessity.

It also means that you can exit your house anywhere with these headphones fully charged. They will not fail you!

Verdict

A successful pro upgrade over an older version? Check.

An immersive experience with no background noise? Check.

A cool-looking set with a distinct design? Check.

A set of headphones with clear sound and deep bass? Double-check.

With such qualities, Cowin E7 Pro has aced our test. We officially declare it as an excellent set of headphones and a good bang for your buck.
